Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Super Mario Bros. (that one made me throw up a little just typing it). All of these games have something in common. Yes, they all had a movie adaptation. But what I’m referring to is that they all were bad. For the most part Tomb Raider did the best. And I’m sure there is a game or two I’m forgetting. But these movies come to my mind. And as a gamer and a movie lover, this is truly sad.

For some reason when it comes to games or vice versa, they never seem to work together like they should. You would think epic suspense thillers or action packed hardcore games would be easy to implement. For instance Hitman. Awesome game, yet the movie resembled a bloated hoagie? How so? What I think it comes down to is that the writers and directors rely more on the games fan base and the games persona instead of what the game gives you, which happens to be really good plots, leaving us all with bloated hoagies for lunch.

Lets be real. Tomb Raider for instance had a thrilling plot and amazing action scenes. The game, that is. The movie didn’t bring me to that level, it shouldn’t have been that hard to do in the first place. In other words the movie was written out for you. How did you mess it up? And don’t get me started on Resident Evil. These epic games should have a proper movie to go hand in hand with them.

And then there’s Portal.

It’s a stunning game that takes your breath away. It’s truly unlike any other game. Which makes it a one of a kind experience. And that’s how a movie adaptation should be as well. A fanmade movie was done for the popular game title known as Portal: No Escape. And just to give you an idea of how well this was made, I’ll show you both a game trailer and the quick fan made movie. Enjoy and well done
